Sirikoi’s Brand Journey

The "New Look & Feel" Sirikoi

After 18 years we have a new logo, and I hope you will love it as much as we do!
The story of our logo is connected to friendships, beliefs and lucky encounters. When Willie and I were building Sirikoi, Murray Grant, a great friend of ours came to stay & worked on his first big sculpture “Meru Bull” – dedicated to a famous, very big elephant in Meru National Park. Willie loved it and Murry agreed that we could use it as our logo.
So why change it now? We have grown and changed so much over the years, and feel it is time to refresh our brand to better represent our values and goals. Kenya has changed, conservation has changed, the expectations of our guests have changed, and we wanted to signal that we are moving forward too.

We are surrounded by beautiful nature, but it has not always been the case: twenty-three years ago, where Sirikoi is now, with its wildlife and amazing views, there were maize fields, and little wildlife. We have rewilded over 700 acres which is now thick forest and home to many animals, birds and insects – the recovery is extraordinary.
We will keep the elephant logo but it is now very different – more in tune with the landscape and the colour of the red/orange earth that elephants often cover themselves with, right in front of the lodge.

For many of us the elephant is a special animal that we love it with a special passion. Elephants like humans are family-oriented, they have communities & are in harmony with nature, moving silently across the landscape leaving only their enormous footprints behind, but are a big presence in the savannah. In a way, this is how Sirikoi is seen: immersed in nature, strong and beautiful, leaving behind only positive footprints.
Tom Shepherd is an amazing watercolour artist, whose work we love, we challenged him to come up with a new logo and felt that what he created is perfect.
The new bull is like the new Sirikoi: full of experience, but moving forward, walking on this incredible landscape and protecting it. I’m sure Willie would have loved it.
With lots of love Sue
